Dog musher Von Martin has been preparing for a big trip with his sled dogs since last summer. Martin, who keeps the huskies at his home outside Chehalis, is headed to Alaska Feb. 1, 2009, for an 800-mile journey across the frontier. The expedition commemorates the 1925 Serum Run to the town of Nome, where an antitoxin was delivered in a record five and a half days.
